In the wake of the pahalgam attack, mock drills were conducted across the country on wednesday (7 May) amid air strikes on pakistan under 'Operation Sindoor'. Under the nationwide mock drill, a blackout was seen in Connaught Place, Delhi. Complete darkness was seen on the roads. Lights from shops to homes were switched off. Lights of vehicles on the roads were also seen switched off.

Security 'mock drills' were conducted at 55 places in the national capital delhi on wednesday and during this, some scenes like loud sirens, people running towards safe places, injured people being carried on stretchers were seen. Under the nationwide 'Operation Abhyas', 'mock drills' were conducted to show how to deal with different scenarios like air strikes, incidents of fire at several places simultaneously, search and rescue operations.

PCR and fire brigade vehicles deployed

PCR vans and fire brigade vehicles were deployed at several places, while security personnel and civil defence volunteers were deployed in large numbers. At Khan Market, sirens were sounded and people were asked to flee as part of the evacuation exercise. A mock drill was conducted at chandni Chowk in the presence of civil defence volunteers, personnel and NCC cadets.

On the other hand, as soon as the evacuation exercise began at chandni Chowk near the Town Hall, sirens started sounding in the market area, prompting people to run to safer places. A second siren was sounded, signalling the start of rescue operations. During this, volunteers were given practice to rescue the injured while people were asked to remain calm and help the injured. Cranes of the delhi fire service were used to reach high-rise buildings and evacuate people trapped in the mock drill. Sirens were sounded at Delhi's indira gandhi International Airport. fire brigade teams along with medical teams and several ambulances reached the spot.
