Meanwhile, People's Democratic party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti has welcomed the inauguration of this iconic Chenab Bridge by prime minister Modi. She has described it as a positive infrastructure milestone for Jammu and Kashmir.

However, she also expressed serious concern over its wider environmental and logistical implications. Describing the construction of the world's tallest railway bridge as a significant engineering achievement, Iltija Mufti urged the central government to remain sensitive to the fragile ecological landscape of Kashmir.

She particularly highlighted apprehensions about the proposed railway tracks passing through areas rich in gardens near pahalgam and warned that such developments could irreversibly damage the environment and local livelihoods. "Promoting infrastructure should not come at the cost of our environment," he said, warning against "indiscriminate progress" in ecologically fragile areas.
