Pakistan's Foreign minister Ishaq Dar openly supported the terrorist organization 'The Resistance Front' during his speech in Parliament. Recently this organization has been declared a foreign terrorist organization by the US. Pakistan removed TRF's name in UNSC
Foreign minister Dar admitted in parliament that pakistan had intervened to remove TRF's name from the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) statement condemning the pahalgam terrorist attack on april 22. He said, 'We opposed adding TRF's name in the UNSC statement. I got calls from many countries, but we did not listen and TRF's name was removed.' He further said, 'We do not consider TRF illegal. Give any proof that they carried out the attack. Unless TRF takes responsibility itself, we will not hold it guilty.' However, TRF itself publicly took responsibility for the attack, and US and indian intelligence agencies have confirmed its links with LeT.
US declares TRF a terrorist organisation
On July 18, the US declared TRF a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO) and Specially Designated Terrorist (SDGT). The decision was announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He said, 'TRF, which is a front organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba, took responsibility for the terrorist attack in pahalgam on 22 april 2025. This attack was the deadliest attack on civilians in india since 2008.' TRF is now banned from receiving financial assistance from individuals and entities under US jurisdiction.
India welcomes US decision
India's Foreign minister S jaishankar welcomed the US move and called it a proof of India-US' strong partnership against terrorism. He wrote on social media platform X, 'Thanks to Secretary of State Rubio and the US State Department for declaring TRF as FTO and SDGT. TRF had claimed responsibility for the pahalgam attack. zero tolerance towards terrorism.'
TRF's terror record
TRF has previously claimed responsibility for several attacks on indian security forces, including several attacks in 2024. The organization is supported by ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba and aims to carry out terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
