Pakistan army Chief Asim Munir had described india as a shiny ferrari car and his country as a dumper full of gravel. Asim Munir had said that if the two clash, the ferrari will be the one to suffer. India's Defense minister Rajnath Singh also ridiculed pakistan on this statement on friday (August 22, 2025). Meanwhile, a report has come out, which has revealed why pakistan is a dumper full of gravel?
There are only 23 thousand factories in pakistan, while there are 6.04 lakh mosques and more than 36 thousand madrasas here. The first economic census report has revealed this interesting aspect of the social and economic picture of Pakistan. Pakistan's Planning minister Ahsan Iqbal released this report on thursday (August 21, 2025).
This report has come at a time when pakistan is facing a deep financial crisis and is negotiating with the international Monetary Fund for the second installment of a seven billion dollar relief package. According to the report published in 'Express Tribune', data related to the economic sector was collected under the 'Population and Housing Census, 2023', but its details were released on Thursday.
So many factories, schools and madrasas in Pakistan
According to the report, there are 23,000 factories in pakistan, while the number of small production units has been found to be 6.43 lakh. The report says that there are only 7,086 units where more than 250 people work. This shows that Pakistan's economy is dependent on small business.
In the education sector, 2.42 lakh schools, 11,568 colleges and 214 universities were recorded. Along with this, 6.04 lakh mosques and 36,331 madrasas are also running. Releasing the report, Iqbal said, 'Reliable data is the backbone of sustainable growth. Only on the basis of these, accurate plans and policies can be made.'
Out of 4 crore, only 72 lakh establishments provide employment
According to the data, there are about 4 crore permanent establishments in pakistan, out of which only 72 lakh establishments provide employment. A total of 2.54 crore people are working in these. The maximum 1.13 crore or 45 percent people are associated with the service sector, while 30 percent are employed in the social sector and 22 percent in the production sector.
A government official said on these figures, 'The number of people employed in the service sector is double that of the production sector. The notion that industry is the biggest employer is wrong.' The economic census revealed that there are 27 lakh retail shops, 1.88 lakh wholesale shops, 2.56 lakh hotels and about 1.2 lakh hospitals in Pakistan. According to province-wise data, punjab province has the highest number of establishments at 58 per cent, while Sindh has 20 per cent and balochistan has only six per cent.
