Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with former US President donald trump on Saturday.
Zelensky urged trump to play a key role in ending the war between ukraine and Russia.
He referenced Trump's role in brokering a recent ceasefire between israel and Hamas, saying:
“Just as we stopped the war in the Middle East, we should bring peace to russia and Ukraine.”

Zelensky described the phone call with trump as “very positive and productive.”
He congratulated trump on his diplomatic success in the Middle East.
Zelensky stated:
“If war can be stopped in one region, then surely other wars can be stopped as well — including the one in Russia.”

Relations between the two leaders have changed dramatically since february 2022.
Their heated exchange at the white house earlier this year marked a low point.
