Karthigai Deepam special: Three days of worship!!!
Karthikai is the most special of the tamil months. It is called the month of lights. This month is a month in which the Lord can be lit and worshipped in various forms. Likewise, worshipping with lamps at the door of the house throughout the month of Karthikai signifies that 'God is in the form of light'. In the Puranas, Lord shiva appeared in the form of Agni when Brahma and vishnu had a contest about who was the greatest.
As the strange voice rang out saying that the one who searches for footsteps is great, they accepted Lord shiva as the first god without being able to see it. And Karthika deepa festival was born on the basis that all the people should see the scene they saw.
Also, this festival is celebrated in Murugan temples as well, as this day is celebrated to honour the women of Kartika who raised Lord Muruga.
Best time to light a candle
Tirukarthikai deepa festival is the most important in the world-famous Pancha Budha places, which is the place of fire in Tiruvannamalai Annamalaiyar Temple. It is believed that people should light the lamps in their houses only after performing the deepa worship here.
In Tiruvannamalai, at 5.30 pm, there will be a darshan of Panchamurthys, followed by Vinayagar, Murugan, Annamalaiyar followed by Arthanareeswarar performing Ananda Thandavam. After this, the flag will be waved and the very next moment at exactly 6 pm, the maha Deepam will be lit on the top of the hill.
After seeing it, we should light the lamp in our house between 6.05 pm to 6.30 pm. A minimum of 27 to a maximum of 100 lamps can be loaded. Likewise, the lamp should be lit continuously for 3 days. In that way, yesterday's (December 5) bharani Deepam, today's Thirukarthikai Deepam and tomorrow's (December 7th) Pancharatra Deepam for Perumal should be lit.
One of the most important aspects of lighting is that it should continue from the doorway into the home. After that, lights should be lit in other places in the house such as the prayer room, bedroom, reception area, and kitchen.
