In Hindu culture, the Tulsi plant (Holy Basil) holds immense religious and spiritual importance. Worshipped in almost every Hindu household, Tulsi is regarded as the earthly manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu. One of the most auspicious festivals dedicated to Tulsi — Tulsi Vivah — marks the symbolic marriage of Tulsi Mata to Lord Vishnu (in the form of Shaligram), signaling the beginning of the Hindu wedding season.

📅 Tulsi Vivah 2025: When Will It Be Celebrated?

There is often confusion every year about the exact date of Tulsi Vivah, as it depends on the lunar calendar. According to the Hindu Panchang, in 2025, Tulsi Vivah will be observed on november 3 (Monday), though in some regions, the celebrations will begin a day earlier on November 2 depending on the timing of the Dwadashi Tithi.

· Tulsi Vivah 2025 Date: november 3, 2025

· Dwadashi Tithi Begins: november 2, 2025 – 11:20 PM

· Dwadashi Tithi Ends: november 3, 2025 – 09:05 PM

· Shubh Vivah Muhurat: 07:10 AM to 09:45 AM and 06:00 PM to 08:30 PM

Performing the rituals during this auspicious window is believed to bring prosperity, marital harmony, and divine blessings to the family.

🌸 The legend Behind Tulsi Vivah

According to Hindu scriptures, Tulsi was once a woman named Vrinda, a devout wife of the demon king Jalandhar. Her unwavering devotion and purity protected her husband from death. To restore cosmic balance, Lord vishnu took the form of Jalandhar and broke Vrinda’s meditation. Upon realizing this, Vrinda cursed Lord vishnu to turn into a black stone — known today as Shaligram.

Later, to atone for his act, Lord vishnu declared that Vrinda would be worshipped as Tulsi and that their divine marriage would be celebrated annually as Tulsi Vivah, marking the union of devotion and divinity.

🕯️ Rituals and Celebrations

On this day, devotees decorate the Tulsi plant with bridal attire, bangles, and ornaments, while Shaligram (representing Vishnu) is adorned as the groom. A small ritual wedding ceremony is performed, complete with mantras, vermillion, flowers, and offerings of sweets. Families also light diyas, sing devotional songs, and prepare festive meals as part of the celebration.

🙏 Spiritual Significance

Tulsi Vivah signifies the victory of purity, faith, and devotion over ego and illusion. It marks the end of the Chaturmas period (the four months when auspicious ceremonies are avoided) and the beginning of the Hindu wedding season. It is also said that performing or witnessing this sacred union brings good fortune, prosperity, and marital bliss.

🌿 Final Thoughts

Tulsi Vivah is not merely a ritual but a spiritual celebration of divine love and purity. As lamps light up courtyards and chants echo through homes on november 3, 2025, the marriage of Tulsi and vishnu will once again remind devotees that true devotion can transform the ordinary into the divine.
