Why Lovlina left the CWG opening ceremony?

Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain decided to skip the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony midway, after which she was stuck for almost an hour. The opening ceremony lasted almost two hours on thursday night and Lovlina, along with another member of the indian boxing team, Muhammad Hussamuddin, had decided to leave early for the sports village from Alexander Stadium, a 30-minute drive away.

Lovlina told that, Thinking that the ceremony would go on for a while, we decided to leave, we requested for a cab unfortunately they said it was not functional. The ceremony was on and both the boxers were unable to book a taxi on their own.

If there were no drivers, then caught the local bus

The indian delegation has been given three cars by the organisers, but their drivers have been kept for the day and athletes and officials had reached the stadium for the opening ceremony in buses. India's Chef de Mission Rajesh bhandari and the Vice President of the Boxing Federation of india are not happy with this. We were in the middle of the ceremony and I later learned that he and another boxer left early. We all came in buses and at that time Taxi was not an option. If they wanted to leave early, they should not have come like this. There were many athletes who chose not to come and they also had to compete the next day and train in the morning, which we fully understand. I will talk to the boxing team on this matter."

A total of 164 athletes and officials took part in the ceremony, which was half of the indian contingent, Members of the women's cricket crew also chose to stay in the hotel.
