A fired indian employee claimed that the layoffs are not related to performance even though internet giant google continues to reduce its workforce. Employee Animesh Swain of google India wrote on LinkedIn that pink slips were also given to those who received the highest ratings. There are names on the list that have just received promotions. Swain was mentioned in the piece as saying, "The ones that managed to stay (including myself) are not inherently better than those laid off."

Aakriti Walia, a google Cloud programme manager who also worked in Gurugram, was let go just ten minutes before a meeting. Walia wrote on the social networking site, "The 'access denied' statement on my machine left me speechless as I was ready for my appointment barely 10 minutes away. Little did I realise it would be my last as I recently celebrated my 5-year Googleversary, she stated. A google creative strategist named Jennifer Vaden Barth previously stated that the "layoff impacted very skilled and highly regarded professionals."

15-year google employee Barth claimed that "layoffs affect women particularly hard, especially women over 40." In the meanwhile, google has even requested that workers who return to work share their work stations with a "partner" to maximise office space in an effort to further reduce costs. More than 400 workers have just lost their jobs at google India. The job cuts at google affected 12,000 employees globally and included the layoffs at google India. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and google, had earlier denied that the layoffs were carried out "randomly" and expressed his "deep regret" for the reduction in staff. Pichai stated that he accepts "full responsibility for the decisions that brought us here" in an email to the company's staff.
