With her most recent single, "Aga Naga," from the eagerly awaited Ponniyin Selvan,
singer Shakthisree Gopalan is the talk of the town: 2. The
romantic song, which was written by Academy Award
winner A. R. Rahman, was first hinted at in the first installment of the epic historical action-adventure
movie that was released last year and quickly became a huge success. Shakthisree sat down for an exclusive
interview with a leading
media after the release of the full version of "Aga Naga" from PS: 2 to discuss how she was able to sing the difficult lyrics penned by Elango Krishnan.
Shakthisree Gopalan said, "It was an exciting chance for me as an artist to sing the lyrics to the 'Aga Naga' song. I want to take a minute to express my gratitude to
rahman sir for giving me the chance to sing this masterpiece, even though I know that no amount of words will ever be sufficient.
Elango Krishnan also wrote pearl-like
tamil verses, which are strung together like a necklace. Actually, the song and its lyrics were a bit of a tongue twister when I first heard them, but thanks to the way
rahman sir composed it, I feel like the song took me on a trip.
