Arushi Singh, an X user, recently revealed her unpleasant experience at Kolkata's Netaji Subhash chandra bose International airport, prompting significant criticism. During a normal security check, an airport employee insensitively urged her to get up three times, despite being aware of her condition.

Singh described the encounter, including how the officer made her up and proceed inside the screening kiosk. "Yesterday evening during the security clearance at kolkata airport, the officer asked me (a wheelchair user) to stand up, not once but thrice," Singh said in a statement. She explained to the police that she couldn't cooperate because of her impairment, but her explanations were received with the same response.
The scene worsened when the officer requested that Singh stand for only two minutes inside the shop. Singh had to emphasise that her impairment was hereditary, and standing was not an option for her. The airport staff's lack of understanding and sensitivity left Singh shocked and outraged.
Singh expressed her dismay over the occurrence in her post, tagging the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. She emphasised that this was not an isolated incident and condemned the kolkata airport for failing to learn from earlier blunders.
The incident has raised questions about the sensitivity training of airport personnel and the implementation of proper protocols for passengers with disabilities.
