The bjp has also constituted a five-member committee to oversee the by-election campaign. MLC Vakati Narayana reddy leads the panel, which also comprises state vice-president P. Surendar reddy and secretary A. Kamala. bjp mp gvl narasimha rao stated that his party would not enter into any agreements with any other party other than the Jana Sena party (JSP). However, it is unclear whether the JSP, which is led by actor politician Pawan Kalyan, will back the saffron party in the by-election.

Some JSP local leaders are claimed to be dissatisfied with the BJP's unilateral decision to choose its candidate, despite the alliance's values. A number of JSP leaders have even claimed that the bjp purposefully fielded a weak candidate in order to aid the ruling party. In october of last year, the bjp ran in a by-election to the badvel constituency, however the JSP and tdp decided to stay away because the by-election was triggered by the death of YSRCP legislator G. Venkatasubbaiah. Dasari Sudha, Venkatasubbaiah's widow, won the bypoll with a majority of over 90,000 votes in a one-sided fight. With 22,000 votes, bjp candidate Panathala suresh came in second place.

With the tdp absent, the bjp sought to establish itself as the main opposition. In atmakur, it hopes to do the same. Mekapati Goutham reddy, a YSRCP candidate, won the atmakur seat with a majority of nearly 31,000 votes in the 2014 general elections, defeating tdp opponent G.M. Kanna Babu. Goutham reddy was re-elected in 2019, despite his majority being reduced to 22,000 votes. The bjp had no presence in the constituency according to prior results, but the party is eager to see that there is some competition.
