Earlier, 16 people were publicly flogged in the Grishak district of southern Helmand province, according to the news agency. The report claimed that around 250 people in different provinces of afghanistan have been sentenced to public flogging on charges of various crimes.

According to the report, recently the supreme leader of the Taliban, Hibatullah Akhundzada, ordered the judges to apply Sharia law in their decisions in the courts. In november last year, the Taliban started the practice of giving public punishment to those accused of crimes. The Taliban also banned women's use of contraceptives. Along with this, its sale is also banned. The Taliban claim that the use of contraceptives by women is part of a Western conspiracy to control the Muslim population.
