Pakistan Terrorism: Who is Syed Salahuddin?

Hizbul Mujahideen Chief Syed Salahuddin fled from india and made a base in Pakistan. He is also listed as a worldwide terrorist by the United States.

Who is Syed Salahuddin?

The real name of Syed Salahuddin is Syed Mohammad Yusuf Shah.

He is a resident of Soibugh in Budgam, kashmir Valley. He was born on 18 february 1946 in Soibugh. Salahuddin's father was a government employee in the postal department.

Had a dream of becoming a civil servant, but joined Jamaat-e-Islami.

On joining the Jamaat, Salahuddin became radicalised. In 1987, he contested the assembly elections on a Muslim United Front ticket.

He lost this election to Ghulam Mohiuddinshah on Amira Kadal seat of Srinagar.

He was arrested and sent to jail for protesting violently after the defeat.

On his release in 1989, he joined Hizbul Mujahideen and started spreading terrorist violence. After the removal of Hizbul's founder Muhammad Ahsan Dar alias Master, he became its head.

On being searched by the indian Army, he fled to pakistan and is spreading terrorism from there. On june 26, 2017, Syed Salahuddin was included in the list of global terrorists by the US. Salahuddin himself fled to pakistan, but his children held high government posts in India.
