It tells the story of two lighthouse keepers who "try" to keep their sanity for more than four weeks. The performances are great by both Paterson and Dafoe are spectacular in how they tell this story, it messes with your mind and has you on the edge of your seat the entire time, not in an action way but more in a suspenseful way.

Technically, this film is a pure work of art. Shot without color in a nearly square aspect ratio gives the viewer a cramped experience devoid of joy. This is not a feel-good film. Nor is it a tidy cohesively packaged narrative. Amidst the eerie and gripping scenes were some humorous moments and Robert acted out one of the funniest drunken scenes I've EVER seen.

William Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as men who lost their sanity gave a performance of a lifetime. Robert Eggers along with A24 gave an altogether new horror movie that shall live long and speak its greatness. MASTERPIECE. We just hope Robert Pattinson makes this same acting in the upcoming DC movie and gives new shade to 'The Dark Knight' and we can enjoy another frame of 'Batman' as well.
