R. Panneerselvam (62), a farmer from Cellappanpet, Puthalur district, who attended the thanjavur district Collectorate's farmers' grievance day meeting, sobbed and submitted the petition to the district Collector. "I established an account with indian Overseas bank in Puthalur," he explained. I took out a Rs 50,000 agricultural loan ten years ago. I was later unable to repay the debt owing to yield damage, drought, and flooding.

The bank's executives had to refund Rs 1 lakh two years ago. I did not repay the loan since the bankers said it could be addressed later at the conciliation centre, and the grants I received on behalf of the government were also returned to the Buthalur bank. I then opened a fresh account at the Kallaperambur branch of the indian Overseas Bank. I sold the harvested paddy at the purchase station during the loan month in this condition. The tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Corporation then remitted Rs. 1.65 lakhs to the Kallaperambur branch of the indian Overseas Bank. I took Rs. 60,000 and immediately paid for the paddy harvest and fertiliser. When I returned to the bank two days later to withdraw the remaining funds, they informed me that there was no money in my account and that I should call the Puthalur indian bank branch.

When I went to the bank branch in Puthalur, the manager chastised me and made me upset. So I'll have to go out and get that money. "I'm pleading for assistance so that the Bhutalur bank branch can pay the money due in instalments," he explained. district Collector Dinesh Bonraj Oliver phoned the Regional Manager of indian Overseas bank in thanjavur right away and urged him to assist the farmer in getting to Panneer.
