Warning - Cough Syrups killed 66 children... 


The World health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning regarding four cough syrups from an indian pharmaceutical company. WHO has issued this warning after the death of 66 children in the Gambia. After the warning of WHO, the Union health Ministry has said that these samples have been sent for examination. These products were made for export only but were not sold in India.


The health Ministry has said that samples of all 4 medicines of Maiden Pharmaceuticals have been sent to the lab for testing. Now only after the report comes out, it will be known what is the situation. The central government is also awaiting the report of the World health Organization.

What is the reaction of the haryana Government?

DCGI has already started an investigation in this regard and has sought detailed details from WHO. haryana health minister Anil Vij said on thursday that samples of four types of cough syrups manufactured by the company have been sent to the Central Pharmaceutical Laboratory in kolkata for testing.

Anil Vij said that the cough syrup produced by the company was approved for export and is not available for sale in the country. After the CDL report comes, whatever steps have to be taken will be taken. We will be able to reach any conclusion only after the report comes.

Maiden Pharmaceuticals commenced its operations on 22 november 1990. It has a global presence which includes countries in Africa, Southeast Asia and South America. Apart from these, the company also has a presence in Russia, poland and Belarus.

The company website also shows a message from the company's Managing director Naresh Kumar Goel, in which he mentions his preparedness to meet the challenges arising in the growing global market.
