During the previous 12 months, a Hyderabad-based swiggy customer placed orders for idlis totaling Rs 7.3 lakh, the online meal delivery service said on saturday in honor of "World Idli Day." According to a statement from the firm, idlis are most popular between 8 and 10 a.m., with customers from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, and mumbai also enjoying the dish around dinnertime.
 
The top three cities for ordering idlis are Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. mumbai, Pune, Coimbatore, Delhi, Vizag, Kolkata, and vijayawada are next in line.
 
All cities found that the most popular idli variation was the plain one, while the most popular order was for a plate including two pieces.
 
"Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and telangana like ghee/neyi karam podi idli, whereas Bengaluru is particularly known for rave idli. According to swiggy, "Thatte idli and mini idli also find regular spots among Idli orders across cities."
 
On the platform, idlis is the most popular breakfast food, with masala dosa coming in second.
 
The online meal delivery platform lists the top five eateries that are well-known for their idlis as Asha Tiffins in Bengaluru, A2B – Adyar Ananda Bhavan in Bengaluru and Chennai, Varalakshmi Tiffins in Hyderabad, sree Akshayam in Chennai, and Veena Stores in Bengaluru.
