According to predictions and conjecture on social media, hyderabad might experience a water crisis akin to Bengaluru. However, the water board has made it clear that the two cities are not comparable. The board stressed that hyderabad offers more options and supplies than Bengaluru.

Water Supply Discrepancy
Dana Kishore, principal secretary of MA&UD, emphasized the notable distinctions between the two cities. Bengaluru receives around 1,460 MLD for a population of 12.9 million, whereas hyderabad receives 2,610 MLD per day, servicing nearly 13 million homes. During a review meeting with representatives of the hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), kishore made these remarks.

Addressing shortages in Hyderabad
Hyderabad's growing water demand is a result of drying bore wells brought on by falling groundwater levels from low rainfall. The Water Board intends to raise the number of water tankers from 700 to 838 by May to handle this and to add more if needed. With a goal of 3.25 lakh trips each month, efforts are being made to guarantee the prompt delivery of water tankers within 12 hours after ordering.

Plans and initiatives to meet water needs
Two hundred water kiosks and twenty-two more filling stations are suggested to supply the city's drinking water demands. Furthermore, some 31,000 customers who depend on water tankers will receive assistance from 18 NGOs to make sure their homes have functional rainwater collection pits. The board is dedicated to keeping a strong water supply infrastructure in place to accommodate Hyderabad's expanding population.
