CBI takes big action in chhattisgarh Public service Commission recruitment scam, raids at 5 places

The chhattisgarh Public service Commission recruitment scam was initially being investigated by the local police, but on the recommendation of the chhattisgarh government, it was handed over to the CBI. Many high-profile arrests have been made in this case so far.

The cbi, which is investigating the chhattisgarh Public service Commission recruitment scam, on friday (April 18, 2025) raided 5 different places in raipur and Mahasamund. These raids were conducted at three locations in raipur and two in Mahasamund. It is being said that all these places are linked to some suspicious people like middlemen and solvers. Many important documents and evidence have been recovered during the raid.


The CBI got information about the role of these people during the ongoing investigation. The case is related to alleged irregularities in the examinations and interviews conducted by CGPSC between 2020 and 2022. It is alleged that during this period some candidates were selected for the posts of Deputy Collector, DSP and other senior posts without merit.


Many high-profile arrests were made

The scam was initially being investigated by the local police, but on the recommendation of the chhattisgarh government, it was handed over to the CBI. Many high-profile arrests have been made in this case so far. On November 18, 2024, the cbi arrested Taman Singh Sonwani, the then chairman of CGPSC, and shravan Kumar Goyal, director of Bajrang Power and Steel Limited, Raipur.


After this, on 10 January 2025, 5 more people were arrested. These include Taman Singh Sonwani's nephew Nitesh Sonwani (who himself became a Deputy Collector)CGPSC's then Deputy Exam Controller Lalit Ganvir. On 12 January, cbi arrested three more people. shashank Goyal and Bhumika Katiyar (both became Deputy Collectors) and Sahil Sonwani (who became Dy SP).


CBI filed a chargesheet in Raipur's cbi court on 16 January 2025, in which 7 people have been made accusedTaman Singh Sonwani, shravan Kumar Goyal, shashank Goyal, bhumika Katiyar, Nitesh Sonwani, Sahil Sonwani and Lalit Ganvir. cbi said that the investigation is not yet complete. The investigation into the role of the remaining candidates, other officials of CGPSC and all those involved in this will continue.
