Numerous numerical and statistical reports have been made regarding the decline in the number of people going to movie theaters to view films since the Covid outbreak. Numerous reports suggest that the number of people visiting theaters has been alarmingly declining.

Here is a peek at the Netflix CEO's thoughts on the fading culture of "theatre going," which he made in a quite forceful remark. Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, recently said that going to the movies is becoming "outmoded," highlighting how most people now prefer the ease of watching movies on streaming services at home.

He claimed that by concentrating on customer preferences and adjusting to changing watching habits, Netflix is essentially "saving Hollywood" during his speech at the TIME100 Summit.  Sarandos admitted that although some people still find value in the community experience of going to the movies, this is no longer the main way that people want to watch movies.

Because of this, the future of movie theaters seems questionable, as many of them are finding it difficult to remain relevant in a world where audience choices are rapidly being dominated by on-demand, at-home entertainment.

Given that few films have been able to make enough money at the ticket booths, this might also be a reflection of the trend in indian filmmaking.  The audience has adopted the mentality that they only watch large-scale spectacle films in theaters and that they would rather watch most other films on OTT.
