This weekend marks the release of Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*, which is expected to have a huge worldwide opening and surpass box office projections. The most current projections put the domestic bow between $63 million and $73 million, but THR is now stating that it will probably be closer to $70 million to $75 million, and on a production budget of $180 million (before marketing costs), it might reach $175 million globally.

Strong reviews won't harm the film's chances of doing well over the next weeks, but that is obviously still up in the air.  With 103 reviews and an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Thunderbolts* is now certified fresh after the embargo was lifted earlier today.  Positive word-of-mouth will undoubtedly play a role, but this figure will probably change when more verdicts are added (it has already decreased from 93%).  Thunderbolts* should be a huge hit, even with its grim themes.  A review ought to be posted sometime tomorrow.

A unique group of antiheroes, including Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and john Walker, are assembled by Marvel Studios in Thunderbolts*.  These dejected castoffs must set out on a perilous quest that will compel them to face the most sinister aspects of their pasts after becoming entangled in a death trap created by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.  Before it's too late, will this dysfunctional gang disband or find atonement and come together as something much more?
