On May 7, 2025, multiple indian states and union territories are engaging in mock blackout drills as a part of a nationwide civil defense preparedness workout.


Those blackouts, ranging from 10 to half an hour, are designed to simulate emergency situations and take a look at public readiness. Residents are advised not to panic, follow commands, and treat the interest as a precautionary practice session.

Delhi (NDMC vicinity)


8:00 PM to 8:15 PM


A 15-minute blackout will take place inside the New delhi Municipal Council place.


Blackout in New delhi place from 8:00 to 8:15 pm as a part of the drill; Rashtrapati Bhavan, the PM's house, and hospitals are exempt.


Maharashtra (BARC Colony, Trombay, Mumbai)


8:00 PM onwards (duration unspecified)


Blackout suggested at BARC Colony in Anushakti Nagar, Mumbai.


Timed with countrywide-stage preparedness sports.


Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow police Line)


7:00 PM onwards


A mock blackout drill will start at 7 PM inside the police station location.


Be aware: No blackout will arise citywide.


Punjab (SAS Nagar—Mohali)


7:30 PM to 7:40 PM—District-wide Blackout


A 10-minute blackout could be performed to camouflage essential installations.


Chandigarh (Union Territory)


7:30 PM to 7:40 PM


Town-extensive voluntary blackout for 10 minutes.


Scientific centers excluded, they must only cover home windows with thick curtains.


Public advisory issued for emergency prep and protection.


Punjab (Ferozepur Cantonment)


9:00 PM to 9:30 PM


Entire blackout rehearsal in Ferozepur Cantt.


Because of tensions at the India-Pakistan border, a 30-minute mock blackout is being held. Humans are requested not to use inverter or generator lighting fixtures outdoors at some point in this drill.


Punjab (Amritsar)


10:00 PM to 10:30 PM—full town blackout


Evacuation drills at excessive-upward-push homes, observed by blackout.


Faridabad


7:50 pm to 8:00 pm


KEY NOTES FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION


Do not panic now—it's a drill.


Keep away from using phones or torches near windows.


Follow siren alerts (long = alert; short = all clear).


Flip off all lights and power backup systems throughout the blackout.


Maintain emergency kits, flashlights, and ID playing cards equipped.


Do not use elevators between 7 and 8 PM.
