Although the India-Pakistan border has garnered most of the world's attention since Operation Sindoor, bangladesh, the country's northeastern border, is also seeing some noteworthy developments.

In recent years, a significant number of Rohingya Muslims have fled to bangladesh due to the civil violence in Myanmar. bangladesh wants to make it easier for the Rohingyas to return to Myanmar. A 'humanitarian corridor' for the repatriation of Rohingya refugees was suggested by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during his march visit to Dhaka.

This project is being carried out by Muhammad Yunus's interim government in Bangladesh.  On the surface, this appears to be a Bangladesh-Myanmar issue, but given India's lengthy border with both bangladesh and Myanmar, it may potentially become an issue for India.

Khalilur Rahman, Bangladesh's High Representative for Rohingya Affairs and National Security Advisor (NSA), plans to proceed with this corridor without obtaining internal or foreign approval, according to a Firstpost report.  Rahman is regarded as a strong American supporter, and it is thought that the US is also responsible for this tunnel.

In the meantime, the Rohingya refugees who have made their home in Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar have been refusing to go back to Rakhine, Myanmar.

Sheikh Hasina's party, the Awami League, is against the government's plan to establish a humanitarian corridor.  They contend that an elected administration, not the interim one, has the power to make such choices.  This corridor might be utilized against Myanmar's military dictatorship, according to the Awami League.  This has also drawn criticism from the bangladesh Nationalist party (BNP). According to numerous organizations, Bangladesh's sovereignty is in danger because of the corridor.

The delicate regional stability of India's neighbors will undoubtedly be impacted by decisions like establishing a corridor for Myanmar. The Arakan army (AA), a rebel organization opposed to the junta government, may gain power as a result of Yunus's decision.  This will exacerbate regional instability and assist china in expanding its influence in Myanmar.

India communicates with both parties. To safeguard its 1,640-kilometer border with Myanmar, india has been in talks with both the government and rebel factions; nevertheless, this corridor will make things more difficult for India.  In the face of political unrest in bangladesh, Khalilur Rahman's focus on a humanitarian corridor suggests that Washington is pursuing this goal.  A sizable shipment from the US just reached Dhaka as well.  This makes it more likely that the Arakan army will receive weaponry through the corridor.

Additionally, there is concern that terrorist groups in bangladesh may exploit this corridor for illicit narcotics trafficking in addition to sending military hardware to rebel groups in Myanmar. The biggest hub for the production of synthetic drugs and opium is Myanmar. Concerns for india along its lengthy border with bangladesh and Myanmar will undoubtedly grow in this setting.  Unrest along India's northeastern borders may result from this.
