The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has a new proposal called the FASTag Annual Pass. You can use national highways and expressways without paying tolls each time for Rs 3,000. This pass can be used for 200 excursions or for a year, whichever comes first.
Who Must Make Use of This Pass?
For those who frequently drive on highways, such as daily commuters or frequent travelers, this is ideal. You won't have to repeatedly stop at toll booths. To take advantage of smoother rides, simply activate the pass once.
When Does It Begin?
Starting on august 15, 2025, the Annual FASTag Pass will be accessible.
Where Can I Purchase It?
Only the 'Rajmarg Yatra' mobile app or the official NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) website is available for purchase.
How Can I Get My FASTag Pass Activated?
Verify that your FASTag is active and connected to the registration number of your car.
Verify that it is not on any blacklists.
Open NHAI's website or the 'Rajmarg Yatra' app.
After your car's details are confirmed, pay Rs 3,000 to activate the pass.
How Much Time Will It Take?
The pass is valid for:
One year after the activation date, or
200 journeys, whichever is finished first.
Your FASTag will then return to normal. To regain the benefit, you will need to renew your annual pass.
How Do You Calculate a Trip?
At toll plazas with a point system:
It counts as one trip each time you cross a toll.
Traveling somewhere and coming back will be considered two excursions.
At closed toll roads (such as highways):
One trip is one whole journey (entry to exit).
Will You Receive Alerts via SMS?
Yes, you will receive vital SMS alerts from the Rajmarg yatra app using the cellphone number linked to your bank when you activate the pass.
One user commented, "The toll booths have cancelled the discount on same day return, which is approx 30%.... and why Mr Gadkari, NHAI, bjp is doing nothing about it ??? Shame on bjp !!!"
