Authorities have detained and imprisoned a 24-year-old woman who traveled to dubai for work after discovering a suitcase she was carrying that contained illegal substances. According to reports, Ameena Begum, who lives in Konda reddy Guda in Hyderabad's Kishan Bagh, departed for dubai on May 18, 2025, after a local travel agency gave her a job at a beauty parlor.

Ameena was arrested when she arrived at the dubai airport after police discovered cocaine in a backpack she was carrying, according to a letter sent by Ameena's mother, Sultana Begum, to S Jaishankar, the minister of External Affairs.

According to her mother, Ameena was requested to give the luggage to someone in dubai and had no idea what was inside. She claimed that while in jail, Ameena called the family to insist on her innocence.

In order to ensure her daughter's safe return, her mother has urgently appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for prompt aid. The family has contacted the indian Consulate in dubai and the indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, requesting prompt action and legal assistance to ensure her release.

The letter also includes the family's concern for Mohd Zeeshan, Ameena's five-year-old son, who has apparently become ill after being taken from his mother.

The letter read, "He is crying too much for his mother and has fallen sick," according to Ameena's mother.

The family is calling for a probe into the local agent who facilitated the employment offer because they think Ameena may have unintentionally been exploited as a drug carrier.
