The video, framed by the hashtag #EkamNiyay, details how Dr. Johar’s life spiraled into turmoil after his wife filed a domestic violence (DV) case against him and his relatives following his successful bid for interim custody of their ailing son in 2015. 

This custody battle was necessitated by the child’s congenital heart defect, requiring immediate medical intervention. However, instead of focusing on the child’s health, the situation escalated into baseless accusations of dowry harassment and domestic violence, not just against Dr. Johar but also his extended family, including his elderly parents.

The repercussions of these allegations were devastating, both personally and financially. Dr. Johar reveals that his wife demanded an exorbitant alimony of 10 crores, a sum far exceeding his monthly income, leveraging legal protections intended for vulnerable individuals for what he describes as a personal vendetta. The toll on his family was immense; his father, also a senior dental surgeon, was forced to attend court hearings in a wheelchair, an experience that hastened his decline in health and eventual death. His mother followed suit, succumbing to grief a year later. The financial strain was so severe that Dr. Johar had to sell his home to cover legal expenses, yet justice remained elusive as he navigated multiple courts across Bangalore, Pune, and beyond, each requiring separate legal representation.

Dr. Johar’s narrative is not just a personal lament but a broader critique of a legal system that he believes is imbalanced and susceptible to misuse. He emphasizes that while he recognizes the injustices faced by women, there is a growing number of men suffering due to these skewed provisions. The video concludes with a plea for legal reforms that ensure justice and equity without bias, highlighting the loss of access to his children and the ongoing emotional and financial strain.
