Inauguration of Projects:

On september 22, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 5,100 crore in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.

He emphasized the implementation of the next-generation GST on the same day.

Significance of the Visit:

PM Modi described the visit as special for three reasons:

1. First day of navratri coinciding with the visit.

2. Implementation of next-gen GST.

3. Launch of multiple development projects in Arunachal Pradesh.

He called it an example of the “double benefit” of the BJP’s double-engine government.

Comparison with congress Rule

Allocation of Funds:

During the congress regime, Arunachal Pradesh received ₹6,000 crore in central taxes over 10 years.

Under the bjp government, the state received over ₹1 lakh crore in 10 years—16 times more.

PM Modi highlighted that this is just a portion of the taxes shared with the state.

Neglect Under Congress:

The congress allegedly ignored Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast.

Quote: “The congress thought Arunachal had only two lok sabha seats, so why pay attention?”

As a result, the entire Northeast was left behind in development.

BJP Government’s Approach to the Northeast

Focus on local Development:

PM Modi emphasized that ministers must visit and stay in the region for effective governance.

He mentioned recent trips to Mizoram and Manipur as examples of closer engagement.

Nation-First Mantra:

PM Modi said the BJP’s focus is “Nation First”, contrasting it with Congress’s alleged neglect.

Development now reaches Arunachal Pradesh more effectively due to active involvement from the center.

Reducing Distance from Delhi:

PM Modi stressed the government’s effort to bring delhi closer to the Northeast.

He reiterated his personal commitment and deep connection with the region.
