Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. stalin inaugurated a new meal scheme for sanitation workers in the chennai Corporation on Saturday. This initiative, introduced as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of frontline civic employees, aims to ensure that thousands of conservancy and sanitation staff have access to nutritious and hygienic food every day.
During the launch event, the chief minister emphasized the invaluable contribution of sanitation workers, who keep the city clean regardless of weather conditions or challenges. He stated that providing nutritious meals is not just a welfare measure, but a recognition of their hard work and dignity.
Under this scheme, designated meal centers will offer freshly prepared food at specific times during the day, enabling workers to eat without financial burden or the need to travel long distances. Officials stated that the initiative will be expanded to more zones in the coming months based on feedback and demand.
