Intensified Anti-Naxal Operations in Bastar
Bastar region has been witnessing rapid anti-Naxal drives, especially in Sukma, Bijapur, and Dantewada.
Operations were earlier paused to create a favorable environment for Naxalite surrenders, following the surrender of cadres like Barse Deva, Paparao, Kesa, and Chaitu.
For nearly 15 days, agencies halted forest operations in hopes of further surrenders.
When no response emerged from Naxalite groups and communication broke down, security agencies resumed intensified operations.
Recent Surrenders and Internal Weakening
A DKSZC member had recently surrendered along with 9 companions, signaling fractures within the Naxal organization.
Bastar IG Sundarraj P. stated that the Naxalite structure is steadily disintegrating due to ideological disillusionment.
Many former Naxal cadres are now encouraging others to surrender, weakening the movement’s operational strength.
Profile of Chaitu alias shyam Dada
Chaitu, a long-time Naxalite operative in the Darbha division, recently surrendered with 10 associates at Jagdalpur.
He revealed that he came into contact with Naxalite medical teams during college and subsequently went underground in 1985.
His departure is considered a major blow to the Darbha division.
