Delhi's Karkardooma court has acquitted 12 accused of all charges in the murder case of Hashim ali during the 2020 riots in North-East Delhi. The court says that the prosecution could not present such concrete evidence to prove that the accused were part of the murderous mob.

Karkardooma court gave an important decision

Additional Sessions Judge Pulastya Pramachala said in his verdict that the pieces presented as circumstantial evidence are not enough to convict any of the accused. He also clarified that only one witness confirmed the presence of the accused, while the others were not eyewitnesses to any incident.

What were the charges?

According to the FIR lodged by delhi Police, Hashim ali and his brother Amir Khan were killed during the riots. It was alleged that a mob stopped and attacked them on the basis of their Muslim identity. The accused were suspected of leading the mob and being involved in the murder

whatsapp chats also questioned

The delhi Police presented some whatsapp chats as evidence, but the court did not consider them conclusive evidence. The court said that these chats do not directly prove that the accused persons were involved in the violent incident in which Hashim died.

Acquitted accused

The names of the 12 people who were acquitted are: lokesh Kumar Solanki, Pankaj Sharma, Ankit Chaudhary, Prince, Jatin Sharma, Himanshu Thakur, vivek Panchal, rishabh Chaudhary, sumit Chaudhary, Tinku Arora, sandeep and Sahil.
