Internet will be banned to prevent cheating in board exams??


The West bengal government has banned the internet in some parts of the state on the day of class 10 board examinations in the state. This has been done temporarily in some areas of the state to prevent copying and paper leaks. A senior state official said that our effort is to stop copying and conduct the examination properly. Board exams are starting in the state from Monday.


There will be a ban in Malda and Murshidabad

An official of the West bengal Board of Higher Secondary education (WBBSE) has given this information to the news agency. The paper was leaked on social media in 2019 and 2020 within an hour of the commencement of examinations in several districts, including Malda and Murshidabad, the official said. This decision has been taken so that nothing like this happens this time.


Decision-based on intelligence

Last year due to Covid, the board examinations were not conducted in West Bengal. In a notification this year, it has been said that information has been received from the Intelligence Department that in the next few days the Internet can be misused for illegal work related to the examination. These include things like copying, paper leaking. The names of the areas where this restriction will be applicable have not been mentioned in the notification.

There is no ban on phone calls and SMS

The official said that a decision will be taken as per the requirement. However, phone calls and SMS services will not be banned. According to a source, during the exam days, internet services were suspended earlier as well, it was not announced then.
