Andy Serkis discusses alfred Pennyworth's role in The Batman, revealing that he isn't much of a father figure in the film. The most anticipated DC film of the year, The Batman, will be released this week. The film, directed by Matt Reeves, is a revised, darker version of the legendary DC hero, who is now played by Robert Pattinson. The Batman was originally scheduled to hit theatres in june 2021, but delays caused by the coronavirus outbreak forced Warner Bros. to postpone it several times. Fans will finally get to see what Reeves has in store for Bruce Wayne after more than a year of frantic expectation.

The Batman is set in Bruce's second year as the vigilante of Gotham. The Riddler (Paul Dano), who has been slaughtering members of Gotham's elite as part of some demented conspiracy, is his current adversary. Bruce must use all of his detective abilities to figure out what the Riddler's goals are, but his demons threaten to get in the way. From the Penguinto Catwoman, The Batman contains revamped versions of several legendary DC characters. On Bruce's side, there are certain important allies, including as Serkis' alfred Pennyworth. Of course, like everywhere else in The Batman, this alfred is not the sophisticated, aged butler that fans have come to expect.
