The two met for the first time on the sets of the film Yeh Dillagi, where both of them were going to have a photoshoot. Both had met during this shoot. When Saif came to bollywood, he was new, whereas amrita was very senior.
Both of them became good friends after the photo session. Saif revealed his first date with amrita at an interview.
Saif had said that his and Amrita's first date was very interesting. When Saif invites amrita for dinner, he flatly refuses, saying that he does not like going out. After this, amrita invited him for dinner at her house itself. After dinner, Saif dwelled at Amrita's house for two whole daylights.

'I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw amrita without makeup; I couldn't even recognise her,' he continued.
Significantly, they dated for around three months before secretly marrying in 1991. Because amrita was 12 years older than Saif, they were both concerned about their families' reactions at the time, so they told their families after they married.
After about 13 years of marriage, in the year 2004, both of them decided to separate and got divorced. The couple has two children named ali KHAN' target='_blank' title='sara ali khan-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>sara ali khan and Ibrahim ali Khan.
