There has been some friction between mammootty fans and parvathy thiruvothu since the 'Kasaba' movie issue, when Parvathy opined against a problematic scene in that movie, so when an announcement came out saying that both Parvathy and mammootty will be seen in a film called "Puzhu," everyone hoped that this would put an end to the feud. So there was some anticipation for the release of Puzhu, which was finally launched on SonyLiv last Friday. Let's see how the film turned out:

Puzhu is a subtle film that blends drama and thriller genres with a psychological twist. It follows the lives of two sisters: one is Kuttan (Mammooty), a police officer with old school values, and his strict nature of dynamics is negatively affecting his son, and the other is Bharati (Parvathy), Kuttan's sister who married a theatre artist Kuttappan (AppuniSasi) against her family's wishes When Bharati and her husband move into the apartment where Kuttan is residing, things start to heat up. What follows is a creepy drama with some intriguing scenes including frightening Mammooty.

Harshad's story is very unique; very few of our filmmakers deal with issues like stress and paranoia, addressing the serious consequences of poor mental health; harshad had one hell of a story in his hands, one that also has a caste-discrimination angle in it; it's a very strong story and complex one indeed; director Ratheena tries her best to elevate proceedings very simply while making a strong impact in our minds because of the dark nature of the story

Puzhu is worth seeing for Mammotty's amazing performance, but the underwhelming climax makes it merely a mediocre fare.
