Lex (Konkle) and Mani (Fowler) are preparing to travel to Mia's (Aparna Nancherla), Lex's friend and ex-lover, wedding. Along the voyage, the married couple meets up with several old friends, including those portrayed by Gillian Bell from "Workaholics" and Utkarsh Ambudkar from "Never Have I Ever." When Lex first sees Mia's baby, he promptly drops it on its head. It's unclear whether the bridal party is rejecting Lex or if Lex is exiling himself because they are inconsolable. They ultimately go past it with Mani's assistance and make an effort to take part in the festivities. Mani starts to mistrust Lex's qualities as a partner and a possible mother as he starts to consider how much Lex needs saving all the time.

The Drop's opening act and title sequence are telltale signs that the movie is about to exceed expectations, and to some extent, they are. It is crucial to capture consumers' interest right away as the movie-watching experience develops. The Drop is a Hulu streaming release, so it does not have the luxury of being in a theatre, but if viewers are willing to give the movie a chance, they will be drawn in by the opening. The Drop has the decency to keep audiences entertained while they choose for themselves what kind of movie it is, even though it takes a while to reveal to viewers exactly what kind of movie it is.

The Drop's script serves as a wonderful example of the variety of topics dramatists can tackle. Too frequently, comedies and dramas are blended in order to make a serious movie comedic in order to win studio approval. The tone is handled delicately throughout The Drop such that it doesn't veer in either direction; it is not that. Although the final act of The Drop is all drama, the way it is written makes perfect sense for where the plot ultimately leads.

These days, dramedy is a popular but challenging genre to master since it calls for balance. It seems like every comedian has a dramedy on television, and Dwayne Johnson is in every comedy on the big screen. The Drop, on the other hand, drops the pretension and is just a good film that switches between moods. There are serious moments performed for laughs and 10-minute intervals during which there are no chuckles at all. The storyline and direction seamlessly switch between the two genres. events in the movie seem to be happening naturally, making it easier for viewers to relate to and comprehend the characters. The Drop offers a watchable viewing experience thanks to a funny ensemble who are all on the same page.
