Simran made her debut as a heroine in tamil cinema with the film 'Once More' which got released in 1997. After this, she became a famous actress by acting in several films like Neruku Ner, Natpukaaga, Thullatha Manamum Thullum, and Vali. She acted in a movie titled 'Kicha Vayasu 16' starring a young actor and it got released in 2005. The plot of the film revolves around simran having a relationship with a 16-year-old boy.

Simran did not cooperate properly during the shooting of the film. However, the director released the film with some of the scenes he had taken. Enraged by this, simran complained to the producers' council and also made some legal actions. In an interview, Veteran actor and YouTuber Bailwan Ranganathan said that till now, we don't know what happened to this matter.


In the most recent amazon Prime Original movie Gulmohar, simran demonstrated her acting talent once more. Her excellent performance in the hindi movie may surprise some people in the North, but tamil viewers have always known what she is capable of, even in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Simran's debut tamil film didn't, however, see her career as an actor take off. simran admits that back then a female actor had to start out in glamorous roles before she could become a performer in a two-decade-old interview that was captured on the sets of Nuvvu Vastavani (2000), the remake of Vijay's Thullatha Manamum Thullum.
