Born on 1 August 1987 in a Jat Sikh family in delhi, Taapsee Pannu's father, Dilmohan Singh Pannu, is a retired real estate agent, and her mother, Nirmaljit Kaur Pannu, is a housewife. Taapsee also has a younger sister, Shagun Pannu, who is a wedding planner. Taapsee completed her schooling at Mata jai Kaur Public school in ashok Vihar. After this, she did an engineering in computer science from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology, affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. She also worked as a software engineer for some time, then became a full-time model. After which she entered acting.
Father's car was burnt in the riots
In an interview, taapsee pannu shared the horrific experience of her father during the anti-Sikh riots in delhi in 1984. The actress said, "My parents got married in 1986. This was before that, and thankfully, they were better off than many people who went through that period. Luckily, my mother did not see any riots.
She was in delhi, though. She was in the yamuna Par area. My father was in shakti Nagar and he saw it all. But I mean, they burnt cars and so on. But it was not so bad that they lost everything. We were among the lucky ones who were not affected so badly. My father saw it all on the doorstep of the house."
Started acting career with telugu films
Taapsee Pannu started her acting career with the 2010 telugu film Jhummandi Naadam. After this, she acted in about ten tamil, telugu, and malayalam films. Her second release was the tamil drama Aadukalam with Dhanush in 2011. The film, directed by Vetrimaaran, won six National Film Awards.
Taapsee Pannu made her bollywood debut in 2013 with the comedy film Chashme Baddoor. But her small action scene in the 2015 film Baby brought her fame. After this, she impressed the audience with her brilliant acting in films like Pink, Thappad, Mulk, Badla, and Manmarziyaan. Her biggest hits have been Donkey (Rs 450 crore) and mission mangal (Rs 290 crore).
