 Rao Balasaraswati Devi, the pioneering playback singer of telugu cinema, passed away at the age of 97.

 She breathed her last at her residence in Hyderabad.


Early Life and Musical Training:


Born in 1928 in Venkatagiri, Andhra Pradesh.


Trained in music from a young age.


At just six years old, she recorded a solo gramophone track.


Early Career in Films:


Started as a child artist.


Sang in the 1936 films Sati Anasuya and Bhakta Dhruva, both directed by C. Pullayya.


Acted in several tamil films during her early years.


Playback Singing Pioneer:


Regarded as the first playback singer in telugu cinema.
