Suniel Shetty has revealed why he has not yet watched his son Ahan Shetty’s latest film, Border 2, despite its strong box office performance.

The veteran actor made a personal vow to watch the film only after it crosses the ₹500 crore mark worldwide.

The film was released on january 23 and has already crossed ₹400 crore globally, putting it close to the milestone Suniel is waiting for.

🇮🇳 The Emotional Vow

Speaking at Network’s Ideas of india Summit 2026, Suniel shared that his decision was emotional rather than strategic.

He said he believed a patriotic film like Border 2 deserved to achieve ₹500 crore.

Suniel admitted he made this commitment to himself long before the film’s release.

Even though the film is nearing the mark (around ₹489 crore, as per his statement), he has chosen to stick to his promise.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned approximately ₹327 crore net in india and ₹447 crore gross worldwide after five weeks.

🎟️ Waiting Outside the Theatre

Suniel confessed that resisting the urge to watch the film hasn’t been easy.

He revealed that he once stood outside a cinema hall, listening to Ahan’s dialogues from inside.

Despite feeling tempted to buy a ticket and enter, he reminded himself of his vow and walked away.

He said he wants to watch the film not as a celebrity, but as a proud father once the milestone is achieved.
