China's 'artificial sun' to sustain plasma for 7 minutes..!?

China's 'Artificial Sun' Breaks Another Scientific Frontier, Sustains Plasma For Almost 7 Minutes China's 'Artificial Sun' Breaks Another Frontier, Sustains Plasma For Nearly 7 Minutes. While this achievement is noteworthy, beijing has already completed the design of its next-generation Artificial sun Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR), which is expected to become operational by 2035. china has conducted another nuclear fusion experiment in an attempt to create an 'artificial sun'. On Wednesday, the east fusion power reactor created an artificial sun which can produce plasma for 403 seconds. This broke the 101-second record set by it in 2017. According to various estimates, to demonstrate steady-state operations, 300 seconds is the minimum time required. Based on this number, scientists believe that this is a major breakthrough.
Technological progress:

The main significance of this new breakthrough lies in its 'high-control mode', under which the temperature and density of the plasma are significantly increased, Zhang told Xinhua news agency. This record is a huge breakthrough for their team in terms of basic physics research, fusion engineering, and project operation and maintenance, said Zhang Yuntao, director of the china Institute of Plasma Physics.
Chinese scientists have been busy trying to create an artificial sun since 2006. The reactor has completed 120,000 tests so far. In 2018, breaking another record, the reactor was able to control plasma for almost 18 minutes, reaching temperatures of 70 million degrees Celsius. However, this is different from the process used during Wednesday's test. Having already achieved success in this endeavor, beijing is looking to make another giant leap forward.
