When the former union minister G.K. Vasan has left the congress party during November 2014, the party was struggling at a bleak future. After battering it has taken in the Lok Sabha and the split has made many epitaphs for the organization in Tamilnadu.


Along with G.K. Vasan, the former TNCC President B.S. Gnanadikesan has also moved and the party was searching for a successor who would take the party through the choppy waters. While many names were considered and the party’s high command has recommended E.V.K.S. Elangovan to rule the party.


For the past 16 months, Elangovan has managed to keep the party in the media spotlight in spite of its weaknesses. The TNCC President has said it was Elangovan’s idea to have talks with DMK at the earliest to ensure that the TMC was kept out of the front.


The leader has said that Elangovan had talks with the party and has worked overtime to convince the high command to come down from its demand of 63 seats and also accept 41 which it has got now. Presently his faction may get the biggest share of the 41 seats which is allotted.
