The Andhra Pradesh government's prestigious Nandi Award will not be given this year on April 8th and the government is organizing it's own Award ceremony bifurcation and as per the tradition the award will be given on the Ugadi function time and for the past few years the award was not given after the formation of film development corporation over a long period of time.


Over the years the Andhra Pradesh film , theatre and television development corporation has been in charge of giving away the awards. As per the tradition the award will be given on Ugadi day every year.


There were also instances that the award function was also organized on other days and it was once organized on Dasara time. An FDC official has stated that this Year the award will be given not on Ugadi day.


The last set of Nandi Award was given on April 11th 2013 by then Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy which was made before the bifurcation of the state. It was Kiran Kumar's predecessor Rosiah has brought back the tradition of giving Awards on Ugadi day.
