Sri Lankan President firm in his post despite Protest..!?

The Sri Lankan workers Congress (CWC) withdrew its support for the government in the wake of the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, cabinet reshuffle, and the loss of a majority. The main opposition, the SJP, wants the president and prime minister to resign. Around 26 ministers have resigned and the President has appointed 4 new ministers. ali Sabry, the incumbent finance minister, resigned within 24 hours of taking office. In this context, 41 MPs have announced that they will withdraw their support for the current Gotabaya government.They will no longer function as independents in parliament. The current government must step down to take responsibility for the country's economic crisis. They have called for the government to be handed over to another group capable of overcoming the situation. Gotabaya Rajapaksa's coalition won 150 seats in the 2020 general election. As a result of the economic crisis, 41 MPs withdrew their support, bringing the total number of pro-Rajapaksa members in parliament to 113. However, the ruling coalition said it had a majority in parliament.But Rajapaksa is said to be more likely to lose power if he brings a no-confidence motion against the regime. Earlier in the day, President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had said he was ready to hand over power to a party that wins a majority in parliament. However, during the parliamentary session this morning, the government announced that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa would not resign under any circumstances and was ready to tackle the problem. Meanwhile, the UN has called for a smooth decision to defuse tensions in Sri Lanka. The UN has said that it is not right to attack the fighting people in the country and that the opposition should consult the government with various social organizations and try to bring peace.
