Tamil Nadu chief minister M. K. stalin emphasized the importance of understanding history as a foundation for building a progressive future, stating that only those who study history are capable of creating history themselves.
Speaking at a public event, the chief minister said that history is not merely a record of past events, but a powerful guide that shapes social awareness, political responsibility, and collective vision. He noted that societies which learn from their past are better equipped to move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
Chief minister stalin highlighted that tamil Nadu’s rich historical legacy—rooted in social reform movements, rational thought, and struggles for equality—has played a crucial role in shaping the state’s present achievements. He stressed that awareness of history enables people to recognize sacrifices made by earlier generations and inspires them to uphold democratic values and social justice.
Referring to the role of education, the chief minister said that encouraging students and young people to study history critically is essential for nurturing responsible citizens. “History teaches us not just what happened, but why it happened and how change was achieved,” he remarked, adding that such understanding empowers individuals to challenge injustice and contribute meaningfully to society.
He further stated that the Dravidian movement itself stands as an example of how historical awareness can transform society, bringing about progressive reforms in areas such as education, self-respect, and social equality. According to him, preserving and teaching history is therefore a duty, not just an academic exercise.
Concluding his address, chief minister M. K. stalin called upon citizens to value history as a living force, asserting that a society conscious of its past will always have the strength to shape its future. His remarks resonated as a reminder that progress is built on knowledge, reflection, and the courage to learn from history.
