In the report, six assembly seats have been increased in the Jammu division and one assembly seat in the kashmir division. Kashmiri Pandits and POJK displaced people can get representation in the new assembly of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the State Reorganization Act, 7 seats of the Legislative assembly are to be increased. The number of members in the assembly is to be increased from 83 to 90. Before becoming a union territory, the number of seats in the assembly was 87, of which four were from Ladakh.The Delimitation Commission has increased one seat in kashmir and six seats in the Jammu division out of 7 seats.

18 assembly constituencies in each lok sabha The Delimitation Commission has also made a reshuffle in the lok sabha seats of Jammu and Kashmir. Now both the divisions of kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir will have 2.5-and-a-half lok sabha seats. Earlier there were seats of Udhampur Doda in the Jammu division and Baramulla, anantnag, and srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.

At the same time, under the new arrangement, the anantnag seat will now be known as Anantnag-Rajori Poonch i.e. two districts Rajori and Poonch from the Jammu seat have been removed and included in Anantnag.Reasi district has been removed from the Udhampur seat and added to Jammu.

At present, there are 20 districts and 270 tehsils in the state. The last delimitation was done on the basis of the 1981 census. This time the Delimitation Commission is doing the delimitation work on the basis of the 2011 census.
