National flag sale for 60 crore rupees..!?

To celebrate the 75th Independence Day, more than 2.36 crore national flags worth around Rs 60 crore have been purchased by various government departments and state governments from July 1 to august 15. These flags worth Rs 60 crore have been purchased from GeM, the all-party government e-Marketplace portal. According to the government, these purchases were made for the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign.
Government e-Marketplace (GeM) was launched on august 9, 2016, by the Ministry of Commerce to create an open and transparent procurement platform for government buyers. This, he said, was unthinkable even by "great socialists and social scientists".The prime minister on July 22 called for strengthening the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign by hoisting or displaying the national flag in homes. Following this, 4,159 vendors have registered on the GeM platform to sell flags. The madhya pradesh government implemented the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign at a huge cost across India.
