An American lady who used chemical hair straightening products and later acquired uterine cancer filed a lawsuit against L'Oreal USA on friday, according to her attorney. The plaintiff, Jenny Mitchell, stated in the civil lawsuit that she had used the products for over 20 years before getting uterine cancer, which necessitated a thorough hysterectomy.

Only a few days had passed since the Journal of the National cancer Institute released a study connecting the use of chemical hair straightening products with uterine cancer. The study found that the risk of uterine cancer was more than doubled in women who used the products more frequently than four times annually. Despite its rarity, uterine cancer is on the rise in America, especially among Black women.

In a statement, Mitchell's personal injury attorney Ben Crump said that "Black women have long been the focus of harmful things that are purposefully sold to them." L'Oreal, a significant French cosmetics giant, is one of the defendants in the lawsuit that was filed on friday and is being sued for damages. According to Crump, "We will probably find that Ms Mitchell's terrible case is just one of the innumerable instances where businesses actively mislead Black women to enhance their profits." L'Oreal did not immediately reply to questions about the complaint.
