The possibility of sharing the chief ministerial post
is being finalized after congress, Siddaramaiah and D.K.Shivakumar openly claimed the chief minister's post after a massive mandate in the karnataka assembly elections. According to AICC sources, Siddaramaiah has made a suggestion that he is willing to share the chief minister's post with Shivakumar.
Sources say that Siddaramaiah wants a first term. He will step down after the first two years for Shivakumar for the rest of his term. It is also being told that a ballot will be held in front of congress President mallikarjun Kharge at the AICC office.
Congress appointed three observers
Congress appointed three observers to help it choose a new cm for Karnataka. These include former maharashtra Chief minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, jitendra singh (AICC GS) and deepak Babaria (former AICC GS). It is informed that AICC observers will return from karnataka to delhi today. All three congress observers and MPs K. C. Venugopal, Randeep Singh Surjewala are returning to delhi by chartered plane.
Karnataka congress President DK Shivakumar said that we have passed a one-line resolution. We have left it to the party high command. I haven't decided to go to delhi, today is my birthday so there is a puja here and I will go to the temple. He also said that I am ready for whatever responsibility I get.
According to sources, Siddaramaiah has an edge in the opinion polls of the MLAs. Among congress MLAs, Dalit, Minority, Tribal, OBC MLAs are in favor of Siddaramaiah. The MLAs were asked to give their choice by writing on a piece of paper. These pamphlets will also be opened along with the report in front of Kharge. congress President Kharge will take a decision after discussing with the gandhi family on the basis of the observers' report.
