Chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on saturday signed orders raising the amount of pension being granted to them from Rs 3,016 to Rs 4,016 per month, keeping his commitment to increasing the State government's financial help to the differently-abled under the Aasara pension program. With the increase to take effect from this month, this is the greatest level of aid provided by a State government to people with disabilities in the nation.

All current qualified retirees who fall under the Aasara scheme's differently-abled group (those with disabilities) would get the extra support. On june 9, the chief minister made a statement to this effect while speaking to a crowd at Mancherial. After a review on saturday at the Secretariat, orders were given in this regard.

The Chief Minister's decision to provide greater support will help the more than 5 lakh pension beneficiaries who fall under the special needs category. Finance minister T harish rao tweeted that unlike ever before in the country, the pension for people with disabilities was enhanced to Rs 4,016 per month. He thanked the chief minister for providing the greatest level of help in the form of the Aasara pension to the disabled. More than 5 lakh crippled retirees will gain from this historic judgment, he claimed.

The measure, according to harish rao, "stands as the testimony of the BRS government under the capable leadership of the chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, whose approach is inclusive and progressive," adding that the telangana government remained committed to the welfare of people with disabilities. The chief minister was praised during the meeting by harish rao and his cabinet colleagues, minister for Tribal Welfare, women and Child Welfare Satyavathi Rathod, and minister for panchayat raj and Rural Development Errabelli Dayakar Rao.
